I guess it figures. Of all the things I’ve covered, from a mudslide to disputes over water, the biggest story (in terms of readers) of my career so far is a story about bears guarding over a grow-op in the West Kootenays. This story was on the Globe’s best read list for a couple of days.
Raid on B.C. marijuana grow-op bears big surprise
As if it couldn’t get more absurd, someone started a facebook petition to save the bear, which led me to call the Ministry of the Environment to get the skinny on what was happening with the bear. To my surprise, the call back was from the minister himself.
